Brompton Technology’s Tessera LED processing delivered the visuals on Robbie Williams’ BRITPOP Tour 2025, supporting a complex LED display system featuring 14 screens. The European tour, which ended in Athens on October 2, also visited Edinburgh, Manchester, Paris, Amsterdam and Berlin.
Universal Pixels (UP), the video supplier for the tour, deployed Brompton’s Tessera SX40 4K processors to power a mix of ROE Visual V8T, V4ST, ROE strips and INFiLED ER5 panels. The system was calibrated in advance using Brompton’s Hydra advanced measurement system to ensure colour consistency across the different LED types, allowing them to operate as a single visual canvas.
Designed by creative director Kim Gavin, the show featured large-scale, synchronised LED visuals across multiple stage positions. With displays operating in varied lighting and weather conditions across open-air stadiums, the processing platform needed to offer precise real-time control and adaptability.
To manage the complex visual workflow, the video system was supported by Disguise GX3 media servers, with Disguise Designer and Live Grade Studio software handling playback and colour management. Live camera feeds from eight Panasonic UCX100 cameras and five Blackmagic Micro G2 Minis were also integrated into the display system.
Matthew Morris, technical specialist at Universal Pixels, said: “Brompton is tried and tested for us. We’ve relied on its Tessera processors across many touring shows over the years, so the technology was familiar to us and the crew, delivered great reliability, and came with excellent support. For a large-scale and high-profile tour like this, Brompton was the natural choice.”
Brompton says its calibration and colour management tools allowed the team to blend LED panels from different manufacturers while maintaining uniform image quality. The system’s API integration with third-party software such as Live Grade enabled dynamic colour grading across the full display array.
Morris added: “Colour accuracy was essential, especially with changing lighting and weather conditions in outdoor stadiums. Brompton’s Tessera platform gave us the control to fine-tune in real time, and with its API integration with Live Grade we could seamlessly apply grading across all screen positions. The result was a consistently accurate look across the entire stage.”
Robbie Williams’ BRITPOP Tour ran from 31 May in Edinburgh to 2 October in Athens, marking the singer’s return to major outdoor venues in support of his 13th studio album.
