Sharp UK adds touchless sign-in to Optimised Visitor Management system

The feature is designed to help businesses reduce physical contact with devices and reduce COVID-19 transmission

Sharp UK has made available a new touches sign-in feature on its Optimised Visitor Management (OVM) system to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.

As guests arrive, they scan the QR code shown on Sharp’s interactive display using their smartphone camera. This opens a web browser on their device and prompts the guest to sign-in on their own phone, removing the need for physical contact with the device and reducing risk of COVID-19 transmission. There is no need to download a smartphone app, making the feature suitable for passing visitors.

The OVM system is Sharp’s platform for visitor, employee and contractor registration, introduced in July 2019. The system is designed to ensure that businesses always have an accurate and up-to-date list of who is on-site and supports compliance with data protection and privacy regulation, including GDPR.

Julian Hodges, group manager, product marketing at Sharp UK, said: “With businesses now starting to return to the workplace and more expected from September, they will need to look at every aspect of the building to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 being spread. Clearly the first thing a visitor encounters is how they sign in so this is critical.

“We are very pleased to be supporting our customer with one of the many changes they now need to bring in and are confident that the touchless sign-in feature to the OVM system will help them maintain a safer working environment.”
