Distribution deals, 4K wallplates, top 500s, and LED luminaries…

We begin the week with a round up of news from around the market, including Funktion-One's distribution deal with Ko Team, Atlona's new 4K wallplate transmitter, ZetaDisplays retaining top 500 status, and Elation shipping its new IP65 luminaire...

Ko Team becomes Funktion-One distributor for Israel

Loudspeaker manufacturer Funktion-One has announced that it has partnered with Ko Team as its distributor for Israel. The deal is the result of a meeting between the companies at this year’s ISE in early February, with the partnership being finalised remotely due to travel restrictions.

“After the show we all agreed that Ko Team are the right company to work with in Israel and take the brand forward,” said Funktion-One’s director of business development, Bill Woods. “I was scheduled to visit Tel Aviv in early March but as the Coronavirus began to inexorably spread, I cancelled my flight and my appointments. After about a month, it became clear that trying to plan a visit was pointless, so the handshakes and onboarding had to be done virtually.”

Ko Team’s Keynan Oz added, “We believe our mission and life’s work is to create the best atmosphere in Israel’s nightlife. We see Funktion-One as the very best sound system in the world, so we’re very excited to have it in our company.

“There are over 1,000 nightlife locations in Israel,” he concluded. “We are very excited to start installing Funktion-One systems; upgrading our customers and raising the sound quality of installs in Israel.”

New 4K wallplate transmitter for USB-C AV and data

More news from Atlona this week as it releases the latest HDBaseT transmitter in its Omega™ Series of switching, extension, and video processing solutions for AV communications and collaboration.

The AT-OME-EX-TX-WPC transmitter is a wallplate extender for USB-C AV and data, and enables remote USB-C and USB 2.0 connectivity for soft codec conferencing and applications with interactive displays. It transports video (up to 4K/UHD), embedded audio, RS-232 control signals and USB data via HDBaseT over distances up to 330 feet (when paired with a USB-capable Omega Series switcher or receiver).

“An increasing array of devices are offering AV-capable USB-C connections, and as demand for software-based video conferencing and interactive applications accelerates, the need for connecting USB peripherals at remote locations is becoming more prevalent,” said David Shamir, director of product management at Atlona. “With USB-C and USB 2.0 interfaces, the OME-EX-TX-WPC addresses this challenge in an elegant, aesthetically unobtrusive, and easy-to-integrate form factor.”

The company said that the transmitter’s USB-C input supports both AV and data, “enabling adapter-free AV connectivity for recent Mac, Chromebook, and Windows PCs as well as mobile devices with AV-capable USB-C ports”. A separate USB 2.0 interface supports peripheral devices such as speakerphones, microphones, keyboard or mouse.

ZetaDisplay Norway retains country’s top 500 listing

ZetaDisplay Norway has unveiled that it has maintained its status as one of Norway’s top 500 largest IT companies. The company is the sole digital signage business on the list, and has risen 27 positions since 2019.

The list, compiled by the Norwegian stock market, charts the top 500 telecom, software and consulting companies and IT distributors in Norway by revenue, with more than 10% earning NOK 39 billion in 2019, which is NOK 8 billion more than in 2018.

Jørn Olsen, head of marketing and analytics at Pronto TV said, “We completed international and award-winning installations in 2019 with clients including Hurtigruten, McKesson Corporation and Specsavers, that contributed to our fantastically successful year. We are proud to have advanced our overall position.

“2020 has been a very challenging year for all businesses globally. Digital signage has played a significant role in helping customers to return safely to the high streets, restaurants and offices, with the implementation of sensors to ensure businesses are keeping to Covid-safe capacities, temperature checkers to monitor people’s health and through visual reminders about wearing masks, sanitising hands and keeping socially distanced.”

LED luminaire lighting the way for productions

Professional lighting specialist, Elation Professional, has announced that its new Proteus Lucius IP65 fixture is now available and shipping. The LED profile luminaire is designed for use in any indoor or outdoor production environment and can be deployed anywhere within a rig.

“The Proteus Lucius is truly the perfect profile fixture,” said Elation product manager Matthias Hinrichs. “High output, compact and comparable in weight to older generations of fixtures, it is jam-packed with features while being fully sealed from environmental influences. Never before has an IP fixture delivered so much in this form factor; there are really no compromises. It can be used on touring productions or any type of event, and is perfectly at home on long-term installs like themed environments. It does everything well with outstanding performance while having the added benefits that come with the IP65 rating.”
