7thSense Design has collaborated with Wincomn, its reseller and integrator partner for China, to create a series of visitor experiences at the Nanchang Wanda Cultural Tourism City in the capital of China’s Jiangxi Province.
The brand new Wanda Cultural Tourism City is 2sqkm and includes an indoor theme park (Nanchang Wanda Park), shopping mall with an indoor ocean park (Nanchang Wanda Ocean Park), entertainment attractions, hotels and dining districts.
7thSense supplied uncompressed, high frame rate and extreme resolution media serving technologies to three experiences inside the Nanchang Wanda Park. The ‘Flyover Jiangxi’ Flying Ride Theatre (pictured), VASE (the Flying Theatre pre-show) and the 12m fulldome auditorium at the Nanchang Wanda Ocean Park, which is claimed to be the world’s biggest aquarium. Wincomn led the technology system design and integration.
‘Flyover Jiangxi’ uses eight Christie D4K3560 3DLP projectors onto two domed screen flying ride experiences, all driven and controlled by four Delta Infinity Media Servers.
Separately, a 10-channel projection mapped display covers the surface of a giant vase, keeping flying ride pre-show queues entertained, also powered by Delta Media Server.
Within the Ocean Park aquarium, the centrepiece attraction is the digital fulldome auditorium, which features 12 projected channels of high resolution, high frame rate, uncompressed media playback from Delta Infinity Media Servers.
“We are using the dependable 7thSense Delta Media Server range increasingly in theme park installations such as those at Wanda Movie Park, Hefei Wanda Theme Park, Tianyang Grand Sphere, Oriental Salk Lake City, Canal Paradise and Zhuhai Chimelong.” explained Hansen Yang, deputy general manager and head of cultural tourism at Wincomn. “Our clients recognise the value of the strength of our partnership, technology reliability and performance reputation of 7thSense products.”
Richard Brown, chief technology officer at 7thSense added: “We are honoured to have been involved in such a prestigious and innovative project, one that has been designed to push boundaries of technology and experience from the very beginning. We value highly our relationships with Wincomn and Wanda, and are excited by the ongoing prospect of the Chinese theme park and attractions industry.”
