K-array adds cardioid subwoofer to Thunder range

KSCARDIO412P is a single-cabinet passive design intended to reduce rear sound radiation without the multi-cabinet arraying or external DSP processing traditionally required

K-array has announced that its new Thunder-KSCARDIO412P passive cardioid subwoofer is now shipping, following its preview at ISE 2026 in Barcelona.

The single-enclosure design is intended to simplify cardioid subwoofer deployment, eliminating the need for multi-cabinet configurations, external DSP processing or time alignment in standard setups. Four 12in neodymium magnet woofers provide low-frequency response down to 35 Hz and a maximum output of 138 dB SPL. The cabinet weighs 61.7 kg and is constructed from birch plywood with a polyurea coating, available in black or custom RAL finishes.

The system supports mono-amp and bi-amp operating modes. In bi-amp mode, rear attenuation of up to 20 dB is achievable. The cardioid pattern is designed to remain stable whether the cabinet is deployed horizontally or vertically, and in single or side-by-side configurations – a consideration for system designers working across varied venue layouts.

Lorenzo De Poi, brand manager at K-array, said: “Achieving true cardioid performance has historically meant complex setups, multiple cabinets, and a significant investment of time on site. With the KSCARDIO412P, we wanted to change that, giving engineers a single cabinet that delivers powerful, predictable low-end with genuine rear rejection, straight out of the box.”

The KSCARDIO412P is compatible with K-array’s K-Framework3 software and is suited to applications including live touring, theatres, clubs and broadcast environments. It is available now through K-array’s global distribution network.
