CODA Audio has launched APSi-Pro, a high-output progressive line source platform aimed at fixed, permanent installation projects requiring predictable coverage, high SPL and cost efficiency. The company says stadiums, indoor sports arenas, nightclubs and other permanent installation projects stand to benefit from the launch.
APSi-Pro is derived from CODA’s existing APS-Pro Series, which was originally developed as a touring system but has been used in fixed environments, leading integrators to request a version of the platform purpose-built for installations. APSi-Pro is intended to be lighter, cleaner and more cost-effective than its touring counterpart, free from unnecessary touring hardware, with weather-protection options ranging from outdoor finishes to full marine-grade treatment, along with custom colour choices to suit architectural requirements.
Rather than centring the design on a single enclosure, an APSi-Pro system is built from system blocks that combine to form arrays tailored to each venue. Each block – APSi-Pro-D or APSi-Pro-S – offers 10-degree or 30-degree vertical coverage respectively, allowing installers to select blocks matching coverage requirements and assemble them into a curved line-source array. APSi-Pro can also be assembled into horizontal arrays using the same two elements.
Output directivity is controlled by magnetic Instafit APS-Couplers, which combine the loudspeaker’s acoustic elements into a single, pattern-controlled wavefront. Horizontal or vertical coverage can be changed between 60, 90 and 120 degrees, with asymmetrical configurations of 75, 90, 100 and 105 degrees also available depending on coupler configuration. Each array can include an APSi-SUB, the series’ partner low-frequency extension cabinet.
Each APSi loudspeaker is supplied with a pair of universal fixing plates, which form the basis of the system’s modular installation concept, allowing any APSi product to be attached to another APSi element or directly to a flying frame without additional bespoke hardware.
An alternative installation accessory, the Array Keeper, is an overall metal frame available in various sizes that fixes a number of APSi units and subs into a single frame. This allows individual loudspeaker elements in an installed array to be removed for servicing without disturbing or re-rigging the rest of the array.
As with APS-Pro, the dual 10in low-frequency drivers are mounted on an aluminium baffle using CODA’s Dynamic Airflow Cooling system, which the company says allows for higher power handling and more headroom at low frequencies without power compression. Each cabinet carries an AES power rating of 1,400W and a peak SPL of 144dB (A-weighted), with low frequency extending to 50Hz at -6dB, in an enclosure weighing 27kg.
