Gefen will introduce two intelligent new solutions at ISE, both of which aims optimise and manage bandwidth utilisation to provide a plug and play implementation of 4k Ultra HD. The Gefen Extender for HDMI 4k Ultra HD over Fiber delivers resolutions up to 4k (3840×2160@30Hz) together with RS-232 and bi-directional IR using one SC-terminated fiber optic cable. As a long-range solution, it is effective up to 2000m (6600ft) in distance. The RS-232 is said to offer an easy method of system automation and control while bi-directional IR facilitates control from both local and extended locations. In addition, surface-mountable enclosures provide maximum installation flexibility.
The Gefen Toolbox ELR (Extra Long Range) Extender for HDMI over one CAT-5 with POL (Power over Line) provides a point-to-point transmission of 4k Ultra HD content with RS-232 and bi-directional IR. POL provides power to the receiver unit using the same single CAT-5 cable, and alleviates the need for an external power supply at the receiver side. Distances up to 150m (490 ft.) at 1080p full HD and up to 100m (330ft) at 4k Ultra HD can be achieved using this solution. According to the company content is delivered with near zero latency using industry-standard CAT-5 cabling combined with Gefen’s ELR implementation of the HDBaseT technology. ELR also provides value-added features, such as EDID management and improved compatibility. This solution is ideal for a high quality signal extension using in-conduit cabling. Users can easily upgrade their audio/video system without uprooting cabling.
