Facts and Figures report released for ISE 2017

Integrated Systems Events has released an in-depth breakdown of the attendance data and audience demographics for ISE 2017.

As has been widely reported, this year’s show saw 73,413 registered attendees pass through the doors over the four days. This represents an 11.7% increase on last year’s figure, and continues a trend that has been evident over the 14 editions of the event.

One strength of ISE is that it continues to draw large numbers of first-time attendees. This year, 15,662 people attended the show for the first time: 41% of the total attendance, a couple of percentage points higher than the corresponding figure in 2016.

Just over 25% of the new attendees are systems integrators or installers, while more than 10% are end-customers – a key category for many exhibitors.

Attendees came from a total of 177 countries. As last year, the top five were the Netherlands, UK, Germany, Belgium and France. Further down the list, the US and China saw their attendance increase by 19.7% and 58.3% respectively.

The overall attendance figure includes 15,662 exhibitor personnel (21.3%). “We count them because we know the exhibitors do business with each other,” explained ISE managing director Mike Blackman.

Of the 1,192 companies exhibiting on the show floor, 204 (17.1%) were doing so for the first time. Exhibitor satisfaction levels are running high: the proportion of all exhibitors who said they were “sure” or “very likely” to return to ISE is 94.2%, and the average satisfaction rating of the service provided to ISE 2017 exhibitors was 4.2 out of 5.

ISE 2017 also attracted a record number of media representatives: 630 people from print, digital and broadcast media, from 43 countries. The largest proportion of these (31.5%) covered the professional AV market, with consumer/entertainment electronics, IT/digital, home automation/smart building all representing 8-10% of the press corps.

Mike Blackman commented: “We’ve seen consistent growth over the entirety of this show from when we started in Geneva with 3,500 square metres, 2,800 attendees and just over 200 exhibitors. This has been a phenomenal journey – and we anticipate in the future still more growth from ISE.”
