Controlling maritime environments

Provider of KVM products supporting long distance signal extenders, IHSE has announced at ISE 2016 that its first sale of the high-speed Draco tera matrix switcher system is now in operation in Hong Kong.

In December last year, IHSE reported the first order for the Draco ultra DisplayPort KVM extender from Intronics for use in port vessel movement monitoring, at the Vessel Traffic Centre for emergency and maritime rescue coordination in Hong Kong. Dr Enno Littmann, MD of IHSE (pictured), commented: “For Hong Kong harbour, you can’t have downtime of the system. You need 24/7 operation and you need hardware. 4K is gathering momentum in the broadcast and professional
AV markets.”

Wim Van de Gein, project manager at Intronics, added: “With systems integrator Saab Technology, we got this project finished at the end of January 2016 and it is now up and running. ISHE was developing Draco in summer 2015, and worked faster to get it ready for us for this project. It was shipped to Hong Kong in November last year.”

The Draco tera KVM matrix switcher features expanded bandwidth to enable real time switching of large amounts of data including 4Kp60 video signals at optimum image quality. High speed switch versions are available in a variety of sizes including an industry leading 576 I/O ports which can be configured for Cat 5e/6, fibre or combination hybrid for maximum flexibility.

The Draco ultra is unique in its ability to transfer video at 4K 60Hz full colour 4:4:4 over a single fibre cable.
