Optimal Audio launches new indoor/outdoor column range

New Column 8 and Column 16 loudspeakers combine IP54 protection, ecosystem integration and a complete installation kit in the box

Optimal Audio has launched the Column Series, a new range of passive column loudspeakers designed for indoor and outdoor commercial audio installations. The new range will debut at InfoComm 2026.

The range comprises two models: the Column 8, featuring eight 2.2in full-range drivers in a 610mm cabinet, and the larger Column 16, which incorporates 16 drivers in a 1.1m enclosure for larger and more acoustically demanding spaces.

Both loudspeakers are passive, 8ohm designs with 70V and 100V transformer taps and carry an IP54 rating when fitted with the supplied rear-panel connector cover. According to Optimal Audio, the models have been developed for applications including houses of worship, conference venues, transport concourses and hospitality environments.

Column 8 delivers 150-degree horizontal by 7-degree vertical dispersion, while Column 16 features a tighter 5-degree vertical pattern for increased control in larger spaces.

Both models are available in black and white finishes and can be painted to match surrounding architecture. Each loudspeaker ships with a pan-and-tilt wall bracket, metal safety strap, rear-panel connector cover and spare grille cloth for use when painting the cabinet.

The Column Series is also compatible with Optimal Audio’s Zone controllers and WebApp platform, with factory-tuned DSP presets available for speech and music applications.

David Morbey, product manager at Optimal Audio, said: “Most of the category charges separately for the bits and pieces an integrator actually needs on the day. We’ve put the lot in the box. Combined with IP54 as standard and native integration with the rest of our ecosystem, you end up with a product that just works on arrival.”

The Column Series will make its public debut at InfoComm 2026 on booth N6833, with first deliveries scheduled to begin in September.
