NEC Display Solutions will collaborate with Musion Events to bring live 3D ‘holographic’ experiences to the NEC Solutions Showcase, which takes place in London on 16-17 May.
The Showcase presents visual experiences via fully integrated solutions presented within real-life scenarios, created collaboratively by NEC and its partners. NEC says its partnership with Musion will surprise and captivate visitors as they are transported on a journey through time; the immersive experience will demonstrate how technology touches and enhances our daily interactions.
“Holographic technology offers a very cost-effective way to generate excitement and engage with audiences at live events,” said Ian O’Connell, director at Musion Events. “With new high bright laser projection, the results are stunning with incredible visualisation even where the ambient light is high. This has opened up many more applications and we are seeing huge interest for retail showrooms, for product launches, design simulation, CEO addresses and even supporting political campaigns.”
Mark Taylor, display solutions manager at NEC Display Solutions sees enormous potential in this ground breaking visual medium. He said: “There has been a giant leap forward in technology and live holographic telepresence offers genuine benefits across many sectors – reaching out to audiences without the cost and risk associated with travel and insurance and shipment of large expensive products, yet delivering inspirational content in an exciting format.”
At the Showcase, in a car showroom scenario, using a 35,000-lumen NEC laser projector, Musion’s Eyeliner holographic system will delivers a life-sized 3D visualisation of a supercar. Visitors can interact with the car using an NEC touchtable to manipulate content as the car spins 360º. In addition, NEC and Musion will demonstrate live telepresence as the audience is addressed by a live holographic presenter via Musion’s immersive telepresence solution.
Welcoming visitors as they enter Showcase, and helping to create the illusion of a London Underground scenario, Musion’s EyeCandy holographic technology will use NEC laser projection to present a ‘blast from the past’. This smaller format solution is said to bring a wow factor to cost-effective signage for corporate receptions, retail environments, trade shows and exhibitions.
“We’re delighted to have the opportunity to collaborate with NEC at the Showcase,” said O’Connell. “NEC’s high quality laser projection is a perfect fit for us and the Showcase will give us a great opportunity to get in front of a tech savvy audience to demonstrate the added value we can bring to digital signage.”
The NEC Solutions Showcase will take place at Victoria House, Holborn on 16-17 May.
