Lightroom to host immersive Aardman anniversary show

London venue deploying its usual 28 Panasonic laser projectors and two HOLOPLOT spatial audio units to mark 50 years of Aardman Animations in new show opening this October

Lightroom, the immersive show venue in King’s Cross, London, has announced Larger Than Life: Starring Wallace & Gromit, Shaun and More, a 50-minute experience celebrating the 50th anniversary of Bristol-based stop-motion studio Aardman Animations. The show opens October 14, 2026.

As usual, Lightroom will deploy 28 Panasonic laser projectors alongside two HOLOPLOT X1 Matrix Array units for spatial audio – the same model used at the Sphere in Las Vegas.

The experience will project across the venue’s four 11m-tall walls and floor, combining archive footage, new bespoke animation, and behind-the-scenes content exploring Aardman’s production process. It has been written and designed by 59, a Journey studio, and directed by 59’s Nicol Scott.

David Sabel, executive producer at Lightroom, said the show was designed to place audiences inside the animation process itself. “You pull back the curtain, look into an animator’s unit and feel yourself shrink as your focus and imagination melt into the miniature world before your eyes,” he said.

Nick Park, creator of Wallace & Gromit, added that the characters had always been built around hand-crafted detail. “From the very first sketches of Wallace & Gromit to the mischievous mayhem of Shaun the Sheep, these stories have always been about heart, hand-crafted detail and a bit of a laugh,” he said.

Lightroom has now welcomed over 1.6m visitors across its programme of immersive shows since opening in 2023. Tickets are priced from £25 for adults and £15 for children and students.
