Internationally renowned interpreters will be converging once again on the city of scholars this summer for the annual Cambridge Conference Interpretation Course.
buk Solutions is providing the crucial technology for the specialised training course, to be held at the Cambridge Hilton.
The course, designed specifically for experienced practising conference interpreters, has been staged annually since 1985 and buk Solutions has provided equipment, from monitors to microphones, headsets, and receivers for 20 years.
Their technology enables delegates to communicate via buk’s ‘push-to-talk’ discussion microphones. It also supplies digital dual-interpreter work stations and multiple booths for interpreters to work from.
The course is being staged in August, run by Cambridge alumnus and senior interpreter at an international organisation in Brussels, Christopher Guichot de Fortis, and freelance interpreter Julia Poger, both members of the International Association of Conference Interpreters (AIIC). The duo have been running the globally recognised course since 2002.
The not-for-profit event is a high-level continuing professional development course for delegates.
Guichot de Fortis said: “We set the bar high and we’re quite demanding of our students. We tend to offer French, English, Spanish, Russian, Italian and German, and student feedback is generally that the CCIC experience is exhausting and gratifying at the same time.”
Steve Hunt, operations manager at buk Solutions, said: “Year after year Christopher and Julia pull off a great event and it is our privilege to be part of the team time after time.
“Successful conferences take a great deal of work for the organisers and I know that this business team begin working at least nine months before the event launches annually.
“We are very aware that the technology we provide is crucial to the smooth running of the conference, which is why we are fully committed to the event to ensure we deliver.”
Poger, who has been working as an interpreter since 1986, commented: “Our technology requirements are extensive and extremely complex. However, buk Solutions gets this right each time, which is why we have continued to commission them.”
