Shure deploys 2,000+ components at Montreux Jazz Festival

Equipment used across 10 stages at this year’s festival, in Switzerland, including 156 channels of Axient Digital wireless and 756 wired mics, supporting more than 300 concerts over two weeks

Shure has recapped its technical support of the 2026 Montreux Jazz Festival, in Switzerland, where it deployed more than 2,000 components across 10 stages during the event’s 60th edition. The manufacturer has worked alongside Montreux production teams for nearly 30 years, helping to manage the wireless environment and technical demands of a multi-stage live music event of this scale.

The deployment included 156 channels of Axient Digital Wireless Systems, 40 channels of Axient Digital PSM Advanced In-Ear Monitoring System and 756 wired microphones, alongside SM58, KSM11 cardioid condenser vocal capsules and Nexadyne dynamic vocal microphones.

At the festival’s Stravinski stage, Shure ShowLink enabled engineers to remotely monitor Axient Digital devices and manage the system across performances. Five Shure ADTQ units were deployed on site, each configured with eight channels for a total of 40 channels, with engineers switching between SC Narrowband and Wideband Spatial Diversity modes depending on each artist’s and production’s requirements.

Across more than 300 concerts and activities over the two-week festival, artists used a range of Shure wireless and microphone solutions. Singer John Legend’s engineer used the Nexadyne 8/S dynamic vocal microphone; The Roots used Axient Digital transmitters with SM58 and Nexadyne microphones; Deep Purple performed with four channels of Axient Digital PSM, four ADTQ bodypacks, AD transmitters and KSM11 capsules; and Vulfpeck used AD2 transmitters paired with SM58 capsules.

Marco Weissert, associate vice president, sales Europe at Shure, said: “Montreux is one of the most demanding and inspiring live music environments in the world. Engineers are managing multiple stages, changing artist requirements, and tight production schedules every day. We’re there to help them stay focused on the performance and not the technology.”

Jon Ostrin, engineer for John Legend, added: “The Nexadyne 8/S gives me the vocal tone I’ve been looking for. As engineers, our job is to replicate and enhance the signal. Nexadyne elevates it.”

This year’s edition marked a shared milestone, with both the Montreux Jazz Festival and the Shure SM58 celebrating their 60th anniversaries. Beyond equipment supply, Shure’s technical team supported production crews throughout the festival with microphone selection, wireless frequency coordination and system performance across multiple venues, and hosted an Engineers’ Lounge where audio professionals could connect directly with the Shure technical team.
