Robe lights Dutch theatre

Robe's 'eco-conscious' ROBIN range has been installed as part of a lighting upgrade to the De Nieuwe Doelen theatre located in Gorenchim, the Netherlands.

De Nieuwe Doelen, a performance theatre located in western Netherlands, has upgraded its lighting system in favour of Robe’s ROBIN range of lighting solutions. The 560-capacity venue – which hosts over 200 shows a-year, including all types of live performances from music and dance shows to dramas and comedy nights – now has the lighting power of ROBIN LEDWash 600 and ROBIN MMX Spot devices. Technical manager for the theatre Peter Visser had been tasked with upgrading the lighting rig to replace the need for a rental system. Following several shoot-outs in the theatre, Robe was chosen as the most suitable solution. Visser enlisted support from Match Audio & Vision, which are resellers for Robe’s Benelux distributors, Controllux. Six of each of the LEDWash 600 and the MMX Spot units were subsequently installed. The systems can be moved around De Nieuwe Doelen as the devices are rigged on a series of automated fly bars that are part of the main grid above the 10m wide by 8m deep stage. Lightweight fixtures and silent running of the devices were said to be decisive factors in their employment, and each is controlled by a Road Hog Full Boar console. “Apart from the scope and versatility they give for our own shows, it means we can offer top quality production values and the latest technology to each and every visiting production,” reported Visser. www.robe.cz
