Riedel delivers IP media system for world’s third largest Hindu temple

Company's MediorNet and Bolero systems support scalable video routing, wireless comms, and live streaming at BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham, the world's third largest Hindu temple, in Robbinsville, New Jersey, US

Riedel Communications has supplied a comprehensive media infrastructure at BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham, the third largest Hindu temple in the world and the largest in the US, located in Robbinsville, New Jersey.

The system utilises Riedel’s MediorNet and Bolero platforms to manage video routing, live streaming, and wireless communications across multiple buildings on the campus.

The installation includes 14 MicroN UHD nodes distributed throughout shrines, worship spaces, and event venues, connected via a hybrid IP/SDI network. This approach offers flexibility and scalability while simplifying system management. Portable flypacks equipped with MicroN UHD nodes and SmartPanels enable rapid deployment for mobile events, connecting easily to the existing fibre infrastructure.

The company says that MediorNet’s ability to tunnel Ethernet through the media network removes the need for separate switches, streamlining network expansion and reducing cabling complexity in the temple’s challenging architectural environment. Centralised control via a fibre patch panel and MediorWorks software enables operators to manage video routing, robotic PTZ cameras, and streaming from one location.

Wireless communication across the campus is supported by Riedel’s Bolero system, featuring an Artist-1024 intercom frame, wireless beltpacks, antennas, and Air headsets. The system provides communications for volunteers managing events, camera crews, and stage management. The consistent interface across all sites and use of SmartPanels is designed to minimise training requirements for users.

Prem Patel, volunteer at BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham, said: “Riedel’s solution has been a game-changer: It’s reliable, easy to use, and incredibly flexible. Whether we’re live streaming a ceremony, coordinating a festival, or just handling day-to-day operations, the system lets us focus on what matters most – serving our community.”

Philip Stein, VP key accounts/manager LVP sales at Riedel Communications, added, “When BAPS first came to us, they were exploring IP-based systems to reduce cabling and increase flexibility. But they were also concerned about the complexity that often comes with IP. Once they saw what MediorNet could do, they realised it was exactly what they needed. It’s robust, scalable, and flexible just like IP yet very easy to manage and operate, which makes it a perfect fit for an organisation that relies so heavily on volunteers.”
