Polycom enhances HDX telepresence systems

1080p HD video at up to 50% less bandwidth is among the features of the HDX room telepresence systems' enhanced standard capabilities.

1080p HD video at up to 50% less bandwidth is among the features of the HDX room telepresence systems’ enhanced standard capabilities. The solutions’ UltimateHD technology combines HD video, voice and content-sharing capabilities to deliver what Polycom describes as a “life-like collaboration experience”.

Enhanced features in the new portfolio of Polycom HDX room telepresence solutions (6000, 7000, 8000 and 9000 models) include: 1080p capability and support for H.264 High Profile video compression technology; standard support for Polycom StereoSurround super-wideband stereo audio; the ability to share content with standards-based H.239 technology via wired and wireless options from a user’s laptop; native integration for Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007; and Lost Packet Recovery (LPR) technology to ensure consistent operation over networks and public internet connections.

In addition, Polycom has announced a new all-in-one room telepresence system designed for quick install and set-up. The Polycom HDX 6000 View Media Center features an HDX 6000 with EagleEye View Camera integrated with a 42in HD LCD monitor on a table-top stand, a high-fidelity 60W sound system with built-in subwoofer, integrated microphones and remote control.

“Customers are embracing visual communications faster than ever, extending its use across their organisations, and looking to integrate video into their unified communications environments,” said Joe Sigrist (pictured), senior vice president and general manager of video communications, Polycom. “To support this growth, the expanding applications, and to ensure the best possible user experience, Polycom is making our industry-leading UltimateHD capabilities standard across all of our Polycom HDX room telepresence systems. This includes support for our Polycom Open Collaboration Network partners, beginning with native integration in Microsoft UC environments.”
