Martin Audio chosen for historic US dance venue

Wavefront Precision sound system deployed at the historic Ted Shawn Theatre, home to the Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival in Massachusetts

Martin Audio’s Wavefront Precision WPM line array system has been deployed at the Ted Shawn Theatre, home to the Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival in Becket, Massachusetts.

The system comprises six WPM line array cabinets per side with flown SXC115 cardioid subwoofers, complemented by TORUS T820 arrays for delay coverage, FlexPoint FP6 front fills and iKON amplifiers operating over a Dante network. Stage monitoring includes CDD-LIVE 8 loudspeakers, SX212 subwoofers and XE500 floor wedges.

Specified and supplied by Audio Inc, the installation supports performances at the theatre, which has hosted dance productions since opening in 1942.

According to Audio Inc, the system was modelled using Martin Audio’s DISPLAY software to address coverage challenges, including a steeply raked rear mezzanine. The company said the installation has improved clarity and provided more consistent sound coverage throughout the venue.

The system has also been adapted to meet specific production requirements during the festival, including the addition of a centre WPM array and extra subwoofers for selected performances. Engineers from Jacob’s Pillow said the installation has improved audio quality while supporting a wider range of dance productions.
