JBL VerTec line arrays installed at Toronto’s Sony Centre for the Performing Arts

PA Plus was enlisted by the venue – which was originally designed to stage opera and ballet – to overhaul the sound reinforcement system in such a way that it would be able to satisfy the demands of higher-energy performances. The company ultimately designed and installed a 32-enclosure JBL VerTec line array system featuring 12 VT4888DP-CN powered mid-size line arrays on each side of the stage, accompanied by four VT4882DP-CN powered mid-size arrayable subwoofers per side.

The VerTec DP Series units include JBL DrivePack technology, which features Crown’s exclusive BCA (Balanced Current Amplification) and Class I circuitry. The entire system is remotely controlled and monitored via Harman’s HiQnet System Architect software.

David Scheirman, vice-president of Tour Sound at JBL Professional, commented: “The selection of VerTec DP Series line array loudspeakers for Toronto’s Sony Centre has resulted in a performance-venue installation that’s an excellent showcase for JBL DriveRack technology. Furthermore, this successful project by PA Plus demonstrate the growing number of VerTec line arrays being installed as rider-friendly systems in some of the world’s most prestigious performance venues.”
