Rise AV APAC to spotlight mentoring at InfoComm Asia

Advocacy group's fireside discussion in Bangkok, in Thailand, will examine how structured mentoring supports career development, leadership and talent retention across the AV industry

Rise AV APAC, the regional chapter of the AV industry’s mentoring and professional development organisation, will host a mentoring-focused fireside discussion at InfoComm Asia later this month, highlighting the role structured mentoring can play in developing talent, building leadership skills and supporting women in the AV industry.

Taking place on July 16 at the GPA Lounge in Bangkok, the session follows the launch of Rise AV APAC’s inaugural mentoring programme, which brings together 31 mentors and 31 mentees from Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia and India for six months of one-to-one mentoring, networking and professional development.

The discussion will be hosted by Peter Hunt, managing director at Hewshott and Rise AV APAC council chair, said: “Mentoring has already shown in our UK programme how powerful it can be in building confidence, capability and connection across the industry. Bringing the conversation to InfoComm Asia allows us to highlight what we are now seeing take shape in APAC: a real appetite for structured mentoring.”

The panel will also feature Sujith Sivaram, managing director at ESCO; Maureen Aw, senior AV manager at Marina Bay Sands; and Rise AV APAC mentees Jude Lam, regional sales manager at Brompton Technology, and Rachel Jacobs, senior architect at Munro Acoustics. It will explore mentoring’s impact on career development, professional networks, employee engagement and retention.

Rise AV said its established UK mentoring programme has demonstrated measurable outcomes, with 98 percent of mentees reporting increased professional confidence and 90 percent saying they felt better equipped to build professional relationships. The APAC initiative is supported by QSC as global headline partner, alongside Lightware, ROE Visual and Absen.
