NEC launches new website for airports

The importance of airports as a market for digital signage solutions is reinforced by NEC's launch of a website highlighting its solutions for the industry.

Following the appointment of Richard Wilks as EMEA Aviation Business Development Manager (reported by IE here) in September, NEC Display Solutions Europe has launched a new website dedicated to assisting airports and airport designers to find the most appropriate LCD display solution for their projects. With a range of display technologies available to airports, NEC says that this site aims to inform and therefore simplify the decision making process.

Visitors will be able to see NEC’s wide portfolio of display solutions that have been designed specifically for a range of applications from simple flight information systems (FIDS), split-flap replacement media walls, networked digital signage systems, to complex airport operation control room videowalls.

The site will act as a centralised hub for product selection, design drawings, case studies, upcoming event information and details on how to request a visit from a NEC representative or to evaluate one of NEC’s display solutions.

“Airports can be a particularly challenging environment for public displays. Airports rely on our display technology to deliver clear and accurate information to their passengers, 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year,” said Wilks (pictured). “This new site highlights our capabilities across the entire airport ecosystem, including every aspect of passenger information display, way-finding, interactive retail advertising, control rooms and common user terminal displays. With some of the largest airports in Europe, such as Gatwick, Frankfurt, Copenhagen and Zurich using NEC Professional Series LCD display systems, and recent new terminal deployments at Dublin and Barcelona, the NEC business offering is specifically tailored to the demands of today’s growing airports.”

NEC Display Solutions Europe will be showcasing its range of airport display solutions at the Passenger Terminal Expo (PTE) 2012 in Vienna, Austria from 18-20 April 2012.
