Mdina Media to launch “world’s smallest” digital signage player

Mdina Media, a Scala platform partner, is launching what the company claims is the smallest fanless embedded digital signage player in the world.

Mdina Media, a Scala platform partner, is launching what the company claims is the smallest fanless embedded digital signage player in the world. Said to have a five year roadmap, the Mini-ITX embedded system measures just 17.5 x 18 x 7.2cm, and features SSD drives with SLC technology which, the company says, eliminates moving parts and thus substantially increases reliability: it is designed for 24/7 operation. Its fanless design also means that it is silent in use.

The unit is powered by an AMD dual core 25 watt processor and has a 780E ATI 3200 Radeon graphics card onboard. According to Mdina Media, its low power consumption makes it one of the greenest digital signage players available. The system supports DVI, HDMI and VGA video outputs; 2 Gigabyte LAN; four USB ports; sound in and out; and an RS-232/485 port.
