Up until now, Riedel’s focus within the UK has been firmly on the broadcast market, where it has been represented by local partner MI Broadcast. The new arrangement will see Riedel selling to and supporting the UK market directly, with a dedicated office to be established by the end of the year.
“The initial priorities are to find an office and acquaint ourselves with the broadcast market in the UK,” Riedel’s business development director, Paul Rivens (pictured here with sales director Jens Miedek, newly appointed to manage the international sales team), told II. “In terms of the theatre and installation markets, we have seen particular success in North America, with some theatres in Central Europe also taking Riedel systems, and now we want to develop that in the UK as well.”
Rivens expects the Performer Matrix intercom/stage management and Digital Partyline systems to be integral to Riedel’s long-term development in the UK. In the shorter term, he confirms that the company will exhibit once again at this year’s PLASA Show after a successful appearance in 2007.
