BIM invites tight design discussions, and for AV professionals, this presents a tremendous opportunity to get involved on the ground level of a project, sometimes before the first shovelful of dirt is thrown. This will be discussed in Jon’s Smart Building Conference presentation in Amsterdam on Monday 28 January, as well as other benefits of BIM-to-AV integration.
BIM facilitates clash detection, including space and system-routing conflicts, clear cable pathways, and camera and projector sightlines which, thanks to BIM, are visible within the 3D model. These factors, along with opportunities for AV manufacturers to get involved with BIM object creation, will be covered in the presentation.
In the final portion of the presentation, a brief case study will be discussed pertaining to the construction of a BIM-designed project.
