Sony and Ameria to reveal 3D gesture display system

Collaboration combines Sony's Spatial Reality Display with Ameria's StarKit software for retail, corporate and education applications, debuting at ISE 2026

Sony Professional Displays and Solutions and Ameria have announced a collaboration to deliver a gesture-controlled 3D display system. The solution – which combines Sony’s Spatial Reality Display technology with Ameria’s StarKit gesture control and content management software – will be available to experience at Sony’s booth 3E300 at ISE 2026.

The system is designed to enable users to interact with 3D content without touching the screen. It incorporates two integrated Intel RealSense sensors positioned within a purpose-built mount that aligns with Sony’s Spatial Reality Display, designed to enable plug-and-play installation.

Ameria’s StarKit allows users to upload, organise and present 3D assets. The system aims to track hand movement in real time, allowing interaction through finger movements, pinching gestures and object rotation in 3D space.

The companies say the solution is for customer-facing environments across retail, corporate and educational settings. Sony and Ameria are also planning to expand into healthcare, architecture, planning, design and engineering markets.

Rik Willemse, head of professional displays and solutions at Sony Europe, said: “Sony’s Spatial Reality Display already sets the benchmark for high-quality glasses-free 3D. Paired with Ameria’s gesture-control and content-management capabilities, it opens the door to real-world applications that previously required complex, bespoke setups. This makes Ameria a strategic partner for Sony Professional Displays & Solutions and the further development of our products.”

The companies say the system reduces the need for physical product samples in retail environments. By presenting product ranges virtually, including colours, materials and configurations, the solution aims to reduce inventory requirements, shipping and storage emissions, and waste from unused samples.

Albrecht Metter, CEO at Ameria, added: “By combining the precision of the Spatial Reality Display with our StarKit, we’re giving retailers and brands a completely new way to bring products to life – intuitively, interactively and without barriers. We are working on application scenarios with our first customers, and interest is high due to StarKit’s easy deployment. Initial implementations are already planned for Q1 2026.”

The package will be offered through selective distribution across Europe, with units expected to be available from ISE 2026. Ameria’s StarKit supports the SRD model ELF-SR2. A three-year warranty on both Sony and Ameria hardware will be included as standard, with software licensing for Ameria’s content management applications available on an annual basis.
