The exhibitor list was led by Germany with 341, followed by China (74), Great Britain (59) and Italy (54). The majority of new participants came from Germany (+7.9%), while the proportion of foreign exhibitors rose by 3.5% – the bulk of them from other European countries.
The visitor total for the four-day show was 68,025, compared to 61,444 in 2007. The newcomers were primarily from outside Germany.
“ProLight+Sound is becoming increasingly popular, especially among companies that cater for several different segments of the market,” exhibition director J_rgen Kupczik told II. “More and more, exhibitors are moving away from simply producing, selling or hiring of products to being full-service suppliers of solutions and services.”
Highlights of a show notably rich in new products included SSL’s 16-channel, 40-input mixing console, Matrix; DiGiCo’s new concept console, SD7; Dynacord’s new PowerSub 312 active 12in sub; Ohm’s BootiQue, billed as a professional sound system in a box; Audio-Technica’s AT2020 USB desktop production microphone; Digigram’s PYKO range, comprising professional IP audio endpoints and an advanced software solution; Bosch’s Wireless Discussion System; and, from Martin Professional, the MAC 2000 Wash XB.
