Charmex wins projectiondesign distributor award

The main focus of the project entails the broadcasting of television images and other services from the venues to the International Broadcast Centre in Johannesburg. Based on high-speed fibre-optic infrastructure from Telkom SA, MEDIA BROADCAST is planning, building and will operate a sophisticated IP-based broadcast platform for all types of contribution networks and video signal distribution, including high-resolution HDTV images.

Services are set to begin next month during the FIFA Confederations Cup, which will be held at the Bloemfontein, Pretoria, Rustenburg and Johannesburg stadia. Looking forward, MEDIA BROADCAST will broadcast the 2010 FIFA World Cup from a total of 10 stadia.

Helmut Egenbauer (pictured), CEO of MEDIA BROADCAST, told II: “This project is fully in line with MEDIA BROADCAST’s sports event business activities. For technical and operation services, MEDIA BROADCAST has closed co-operation agreements with local partners for the time of the events. The project in South Africa is confirming our leadership in the market of event contribution services.”
