Harman Professional technology has been deployed across Tallinn City Theatre as part of an audio renovation integrating JBL, Crown, BSS and Soundcraft systems throughout the venue’s seven performance spaces, which are spread across a complex of 16 interconnected medieval merchant houses in the Estonian capital.
The installation creates a single networked audio infrastructure spanning the venue’s main stage, mid-sized and flexible performance halls, rehearsal rooms and outdoor stage. At its core are BSS Soundweb London processors, Crown amplifiers and a range of JBL loudspeakers, providing a common platform across the theatre’s multiple performance spaces.
The BSS system comprises BLU-806 and BLU-50 signal processors, BLU-DAN interfaces and modular BLUCARD input and output cards, enabling Dante and BLU link networking throughout the venue. BSS EC-4BV and EC-8BV Ethernet wall controllers provide local control in individual rooms.
The loudspeaker deployment includes JBL VTX A6 line arrays for the larger performance spaces, supported by VTX B15 and VTX B18 subwoofers, VTX F12 and VTX F18S loudspeakers and VTX M20 stage monitors. Elsewhere, JBL AE Series loudspeakers, including AC16, AC18/26, AC18/95, AC28/26 and AC28/95 models, are installed alongside AM5212/26 loudspeakers and ASB6112 and ASB6115 subwoofers. The systems are powered by Crown DCi Series and I-Tech amplifiers, while Soundcraft Ui16 and Ui24R digital mixers provide mixing for smaller productions and rehearsal spaces.
Karl Erik Laas, senior sound technician at Tallinn City Theatre, said: “The Tallinn City Theatre required a system that could support a wide range of productions while maintaining consistency across multiple spaces. The combination of JBL loudspeakers, Crown amplifiers and BSS processors provides the flexibility and control needed for both daily operation and complex performances.”
