Sharp launches new 4K display and Big Pad update

Sharp Europe has announced the launch of a new 4K UHD display as well as an update to its Big Pad range.

The PN-H801 is an 80in 4K UHD large format display (LFD), and is claimed to be the first professional display to feature an extended colour range.

The new display is designed for in-store digital signage, specifically targeted at luxury retailers requiring improved colour reproduction, which is provided by Sharp’s UV2A LCD technology.

Michael Bailly, product development and marketing director, visual solutions, Sharp Europe, explained: “We have seen the frustrations of businesses who invest so much time and money in creating sophisticated high quality adverts and visuals, only to find that their current LCD technology doesn’t do this heavily re-touched imagery justice. The PN-H801 is a new generation of digital signage, breaking businesses free from the restrictions of yesterday’s technology with more and better pixels to make jewellery more desirable, food more appetising and detailed data easier to present and share. This device will trigger more purchase impulses, enhancing the in-store customer experience and creating real wow factor.”

Due to the high bandwidth required by 4K content, the PN-H801 also offers standalone image rendering capabilities through an integrated 4K media player. It allows the playback of full HD video and 4K still imagery without needing to be connected to a PC or local network. Other features include ultra-slim aluminium bezels, installation in portrait or landscape mode and 24/7 reliability.

The second new launch is the Big Pad PN-70TW3, which is Sharp’s first interactive flat panel display (IFPD) with integrated wireless connectivity. This allows users to present at a meeting on the Big Pad without needing to attach their laptop, mobile or tablet with a cable.

Sharp claims the new 70in Big Pad is also the first IFPD on the market to offer a DICOM ‘emulation mode’ for healthcare professionals, enabling faster and more effective group review of X-rays.

The PN-70TW3 incorporates the MirrorOp for Sharp collaboration feature, allowing up to 10 people to wirelessly connect to the Big Pad simultaneously using their own device. Sharp’s infrared (IR) touch technology, with 10-point multi touch, offers a fast and reliable touch experience, and Sharp’s Direct Drawing controller means that users can start drawing as soon as the Big Pad is switched on.

“This latest addition to the BIG PAD family is a powerful combination of best-in-class BIG PAD features encouraging creativity and productivity, plus wireless connectivity,” commented Bailly.

“It’s a very simple and practical response to a daily problem: someone coming into a boardroom to present on a display via his or her laptop and finding it has a different video connector to the one required. Our solution is an effortless complete wireless communication, giving businesses more time to focus on tackling challenges, sharing information and creating new ideas.”

The PN-H801 and PN-70TW3 are available now across Europe, and a 60in version (PN-60TW3) of the new Big Pad, will follow in April.
