Sunflower now feedback-free thanks to Televic

Listen Technologies and Televic provide residential community with digital discussion system

Sunflower is a residential community for those aged 55+ located in Marana, Arizona. Residents are very active in the Community Association, which holds bi-monthly board meetings along with other meetings and events throughout the year. The meetings are held in a large multipurpose room where old microphones were no longer suiting the needs of the residents. Not only was feedback noise a constant problem, but the wires on the floor were dangerous for the mobility-challenged residents.

“We have good turnout to these meetings, anywhere from 30 to 100 residents; it’s very important that people can hear what’s going on,” said Melissa Low, Sunflower Community Association general manager.

Tucson integrator AV Specialists discussed the various options for Sunflower with Low. On the recommendation of AV Specialists, Sunflower decided to purchase a Televic D-Cerno Digital Discussion System from Listen Technologies, the US distributor.

The D-Cerno Digital Discussion System uses slim D-Cerno microphone/speaker units which are connected via daisy-chain to the control unit. Only two cables extend from the table, which are connected to a nearby wall plate. An amplifier which feeds the room speakers is located in an adjacent room. As board members wish to speak, they press a button on the microphone base which alerts the board president, who can activate the other microphones via a simple touch. Built-in speakers allow the board members to easily hear what is being said by other members at the table.

“There’s absolutely no feedback, even when the speakers are turned up,” said Low. “The board members enjoy the styling of the microphones. You don’t have to be right on top of them; they allow you to sit comfortably while using the system and there’s plenty of room for papers under the microphones. We’re very happy with this system.”
