Nine Symetrix DSPs for popular Chinese retail complex

A large quantity of Symetrix Radius DSPs have been deployed in the clubhouse area of V City – a large retail complex located in New Territories West, Hong Kong, China.

V City first opened in 2011 and has since become one of Asia’s most acclaimed and well-visited retail complexes.

AV consultancy firm, Dino, worked alongside systems integrator, Betrue, to design and install an audio solution that could meet the forward-looking ethos of the facility. Symetrix supplier for Hong Kond and Macau, Soundclassy, was then called upon to deliver the necessary Symetrix equipment.

The need for effective network control of processors located in multiple control rooms meant that a solution based around nine Symetrix SymNet Radius 12×8 open architecture DSPs was decided upon.

“Dino has used Symetrix on a number of previous projects, so knew the brand very well,” explained Soundclassy’s technical adviser, Bill Chu. “For the V City project, there was a need for quality and reliability, and that’s been answered with a system that features nine Dante-enabled Radius 12×8 DSPs, along with two xIn 12 and four xOut 12 audio I/O expanders and no fewer than 20 ARC-2e wall panel remotes for easy control.”

Suitably equipped, the clubhouse – which features entertainment performances as well as general background music to accompany drinks and food – is now a flagship for the massive retail complex.

The Symetrix package provides audio networking capabilities over Dante, whilst the manufacturer’s own ARC RS-485 based protocol manages control between the Radius 12×8 units and Symetrix’ ARC-2e wall panel remotes. “The system has been performing brilliantly, and the operators are very happy with the installation,” added Chu.
