NHS practice implements Saville AV interactive signage system

Oakwood Medical Practice in Leeds has implemented a new digital signage system featuring displays and interactive touchscreens in an effort to keep patients informed while they’re waiting to be seen.

The Saville MediSign was launched late in 2014 and is designed especially for Primary Care Providers and General Practice. The Oakwood practice is an NHS reference site and they installed and commissioned the MediSign package shortly after its launch.

A single signage player is used to send content via a distribution unit to three existing 32in Samsung screens and a 65in LED display, installed by Saville.

When a doctor calls a patient, the signage content is interrupted and the patient’s name and doctor is displayed as a full screen message, together with an audible alert to notify the patient to go to their appointment. Two further touchscreens show the same content, but when touched they enable patients to sign in to the practice, before the screen reverts back to the signage.

The system enables staff to create and upload multiple messages with a minimal amount of training. Patient messages can be displayed on-screen alongside general information, news or practice updates.
