ZetaDisplay lands major Norwegian rail DOOH contract

Swedish digital signage company will deploy around 1,400 custom 32in displays across 135 Vy Group trains, powered by its Engage Suite CMS

ZetaDisplay has secured a contract with Vy Group, Norway’s national rail operator, to deliver an onboard media and digital out-of-home (DOOH) platform across its train network — the largest rollout of its kind in Norway to date. Awarded through a public tender, the contract will see ZetaDisplay deploy around 1,400 displays across 135 trains operating in the western and eastern parts of Norway, including the Oslo region.

The platform will combine real-time passenger information with dynamic commercial content and programmatic advertising, enabling location-based campaigns triggered by each train’s GPS position. Feature development and concept design are already under way, with the full network expected to be operational by the end of 2026.

At the core of the solution is ZetaDisplay’s Engage Suite CMS, which will manage content, programmatic campaign delivery and performance reporting across the network. The custom-designed 32in displays were developed in collaboration with manufacturing partner Kuori and are built to EN railway standards, housed in an IP-rated aluminium enclosure with hardened anti-reflective glass and optical bonding. A modular design is intended to allow fast on-site maintenance and component replacement.

Ola Sæverås, chief business officer at ZetaDisplay, said: “This is a landmark agreement for ZetaDisplay and a significant milestone in our transport media and DOOH strategy. By combining real-time passenger communication with advanced media and programmatic capabilities, we are transforming onboard environments into connected, data-driven platforms that enhance the passenger experience while creating new commercial opportunities for operators like Vy.”

Sigurd Bay, commercial director at Vy Train, added: “We are pleased to partner with ZetaDisplay to bring this innovative onboard system to our trains. By equipping our fleet with these advanced screens, we can keep passengers better informed and make their journeys more enjoyable.”
