Casio launches first Ultra Short Throw lampless projector

The projector uses laser and LED hybrid light source technology.

Casio has launched its new Ultra Short Throw (UST) Lamp and mercury-free WXGA (XGA switchable) projector, which uses laser & LED hybrid light source technology.

The new 3,100-lumen projector, which will be available from June, is targeted at business and educations environments. Its design allows the projector to be mounted close to the wall to create large images: an 80in diagonal image, for example, can be produced from a distance as near as 27cm (throw ratio 0.28:1). This eliminates shadowing on the screen and allows the device to be installed in tight spaces.

Phil Clark, head of projection at Casio commented: “Despite the constant drive by the government to improve the learning environment, we all know that budgets are tight and classroom space is limited – the new UST projector has been designed with this in mind.”

“From talking to our customers it became clear that the UST was the natural progression for our projector range. As the industry leader in green projection technology, Casio is delighted to unveil one the most highly anticipated AV products of the last three years.”

All UK units will be shipped with a five year/ 10,000 hour hardware and light source warranty. The device fits in with Casio’s green credentials thanks to low total cost of ownership. It also offers low maintenance and a wealth of connectivity options.
