HK Audio’s Korean distributor, Sama Sound, hosted a three-week Open House at its Seoul office to showcase the new LUNAR and PORTABLE SUB loudspeaker families, alongside POLAR 8 MK2.
The event, which ran from 11-31 August, attracted 120 visitors across 14 opening days, including sound engineers, musicians, dealers and students.
Sama Sound converted its office rehearsal room into a dedicated demonstration space, giving visitors a hands-on opportunity to hear and compare HK Audio systems. The main demonstration comprised a stereo pair of LUNAR 112 XA active loudspeakers with a PORTABLE SUB 115 A, while dedicated listening sessions featured POLAR 8 MK2, POLAR 10 MK2 White, SONAR 110 Xi and PORTABLE SUB 118 A.
LUNAR was the focus of the Open House, with the range comprising 10-, 12- and 15-inch active loudspeakers designed for use as full-range systems, stage monitors or mid/high units with subwoofers. The speakers use a simplified control interface with a small number of controls and presets rather than an LCD-based menu system. The PORTABLE SUB range comprises 15in and 18in active subwoofers with dedicated filter presets for different top speakers.
The demonstration space was designed as an intimate listening environment, with groups of up to five visitors attending hourly sessions. Guests could explore the systems using a reference playlist selected by Sama Sound, while the distributor also demonstrated the flexibility of the PORTABLE SUB models by showing how presets could be changed for different loudspeaker configurations.
Jason Moon, product manager at Sama Sound, said the Open House was intended to increase HK Audio’s visibility among younger audio professionals and create opportunities for visitors to experience the products directly. The company plans to build on the event with an HK Audio Experience Day in South Korea in October 2026.
