d&b audiotechnik has launched vCore, a free software engine that lets users plan and audition Soundscape projects without a physical processing engine.
Used with d&b Create.Control and a pair of headphones, vCore is designed to deliver binaural spatial audio from anywhere. Integrated into Create.Control v1.4, it allows FoH engineers and sound designers to prepare Soundscape shows without a complete system, and to audition mixes from their preferred DAW in binaural during preproduction.
vCore supports up to 64 inputs and provides two-channel binaural rendering that can be heard over headphones or streamed in applications such as webinars and broadcasts. It includes the new d&b AudioBridge, which routes audio directly from a DAW into vCore, and is available as a free download for macOS and Windows from the d&b website.
Robb Allan, head of product management for Soundscape at d&b audiotechnik, said: “With vCore, the Soundscape ecosystem gains a new tool that allows audio professionals to plan and prelisten to their projects without requiring a physical Soundscape processing engine or a loudspeaker system. Work can happen anywhere: in the living room, in a cafe, or on a tour bus. All that is needed is the latest version of Create.Control and a pair of headphones.”
Allan added: “Immersive experiences are everywhere and we want to make Soundscape free, easy to use and fun. We want artists, designers and mixers who are interested in creating Soundscape projects to be able to use our technology wherever they are and whatever project they’re working on.”
