Legrand | AV appoints chief technology officer

Darrin Thurston fills newly created role designed to strengthen company’s technology strategy, portfolio development and long-term growth planning

Legrand | AV has appointed Darrin Thurston as chief technology officer, a newly established C-suite position the company says is designed to support its Ambition 2030 growth strategy and further develop its connected-technology portfolio. The role, effective from December 1, 2025, will focus on global technology direction, product expansion and evaluating potential strategic partnerships and acquisitions.

According to Legrand | AV, Thurston will also oversee the company’s corporate social responsibility agenda, aligning technology initiatives with sustainability goals. He has held several senior leadership roles within the organisation, most recently as vice president and general manager for the Vaddio and Luxul brands.

Pam Hoppel, president, Legrand | AV, said: “Darrin’s deep technical expertise and strategic insight make him the right leader to help accelerate our growth in connected and high-value customer segments. This move reinforces our tailored solution approach by ensuring continued focus on developing connectivity-enabled AV products and driving growth through innovation and strategic acquisitions.”

The company has also announced further leadership changes. Mark Plummer has been promoted to vice president and general manager, connected platforms and ecosystems, expanding his remit to include the Vaddio, Luxul, Middle Atlantic Products, On-Q and C2G brands. Nathan Bohl becomes vice president and general manager, display infrastructure, adding Da-Lite to his existing responsibility for Chief, Sanus and Echogear.

Separately, Gary Hess will move into the role of vice president and general manager, power, access and control, within Legrand’s Data, Power & Control division for North and Central America from January 1, 2026.
