Jetbuilt has announced the retirement of chief operating officer Tom Peters after more than 45 years in the AV industry. Peters plans to spend more time on family and travel, while continuing his industry involvement through Sustainability in AV (SAVe).
Peters joined Jetbuilt in 2021 as business development manager, later becoming director of business development. He was named chief operating officer in 2024. An early adopter of the platform as an integrator, he is credited by the company with playing a key role in Jetbuilt’s evolution from a quoting tool into a business management platform. He also championed the launch of the Service module and Jetbot Service Desk, which are designed to help integrators generate recurring revenue through service packages without additional resources.
His earlier career included roles across AV systems integration. He was vice president and general manager of AVWashington-Avitecture before establishing an East Coast office for Integrated Media Systems in 2004. Two years later he bought that office and renamed it Applied Visual Communications, where he was president until 2013.
Peters was also president of InfoComm International. He held roles at Corbett Technology Solutions and SybaTek, where he was general manager for six years, overseeing sales, marketing, vendor relations and coordination of design and sales teams. He later helped establish Visual Sound’s West Coast office as director of West Coast operations.
In his retirement, Peters will chair the SAVe a Second Life Committee. In the volunteer role, he will work with industry colleagues to develop programmes that help underfunded organisations acquire working AV equipment no longer in use by its original owners, extending equipment life and keeping usable hardware out of landfills.
SAVe is a non-profit organisation working to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including Goal 12, responsible consumption and production, through equipment reuse, repurposing and waste reduction.
Paul Dexter, founder and CEO of Jetbuilt, said: “Tom’s contributions to the industry span systems integration, business operations and association leadership. He brought that broad perspective to Jetbuilt, along with a firsthand understanding of the challenges integrators face. We’re grateful for his contributions to our team and our users, and we look forward to seeing him continue to serve the industry through SAVe.”
Peters added: “My biggest joy has been the multitude of people I have had the privilege to count as friends as well as associates, clients and even competitors. I can only hope that my passing through your lives has been as positive an impact as you have been on me.”
