The Tech Tours programme is returning to ISE 2023, with organised visits to six major AV installations across Barcelona. Ticket applications for all tours are open now.

Running across all four days of the show, ISE Tech Tours offer an opportunity to see real-world implementations of many of the technologies shown on the exhibition floor. Six tours are taking place during ISE 2023.

Discover the art of Gaudí at Casa Batlló

The programme begins on the morning of 31 January with a tour of the Antoni Gaudí-designed Casa Batlló, where guests will explore the multi-award winning Gaudí Cube, Casa Batlló 10D Experience and Gaudí Dome.

Gary Gautier, CEO of Casa Batlló, will share interesting facts about the UNESCO World Heritage Site’s history and some technical triumphs of its recent immersive rooms and VR/AR-led audio-guides that drive storytelling around Casa Batlló. The chief audiovisual company involved will also present. This tour takes place from 09:30 to 12:30.

DALÍ : CYBERNETICS at IDEAL Centre d’Arts Digitals de Barcelona

Also on 31 January, Tech Tour guests will also be able to discover DALÍ : CYBERNETICS, a next-generation immersive journey through some of Salvador Dali’s most renowned works, touring at IDEAL Centre d’Arts Digitals de Barcelona.

“ISE Tech Tour guests will be given a unique insight into the combination of floor-to-ceiling video projections, immersive sound effects, holograms, artificial intelligence and much more. The project is a shining example of a growing frontier of metaverse projects that engages visitors to see Dali artworks up close as well as to play and socialise using our unique platform,” said Rosa Monge, Senior Project Manager and specialist in immersive technologies at Layers of Reality, a collaborator on the project.

The tour takes place from 13:00-17:30 and includes a 15-minute show where visitors can step into the metaverse using a digital avatar to walk around in the surreal, dreamlike space with total freedom of movement.

Digital Signage Meets Art at Diagonal 123

The entrance lobby of the Diagonal 123 office building will be the location of an ISE 2023 Tech Tour on Wednesday 1 February between 09:30 and 12:00. Recognised worldwide as one of the European benchmarks for Smart City Concept and innovation, Diagonal 123 incorporates technology, sustainability and the well-being of people earning it BREEAM Excellent, Well Platinum and Certification A status.

The tour will be presented by Carlos Delgado, Director of Operations at audiovisual engineering specialists LED DREAM Group. He will deep dive into the project – covering its objectives and challenges as well as the creation, design and implementation of the 50sqm L-shaped wall and ceiling LED display, office-wide digital signage systems and the creation of 2D and 3D content.

Sleep No More: Gran Teatre del Liceu backstage tour

In the evening of 1 February, Tech Tour guests are invited to a guided tour of the oldest theatre in Barcelona, the Gran Teatre del Liceu.

After extensive reconstruction following a fire in 1994 and subsequent investment and upgrade in 1999, the theatre boasts state-of-the-art acoustics and lighting and uses the latest theatre technology.

ISE Tech Tour visitors will be able to walk under and behind the stage, following in the footsteps of legendary performers such as Luciano Pavarotti and Plácido Domingo, and see where the Liceu Symphony Orchestra and the in-house choir perform.

The tour will also coincide with the first rehearsals for an operatic production of Verdi’s Macbeth (16 February to 3 March 2023) and guests will be given a unique perspective of technology requirements by the set designer and producer.

Mirador torre Glòries and Mediapro Exhibitions

Discover the beat of the city in an exclusive ISE Tech Tour on Thursday 2 February from 9:00-13:00, where Mediapro Exhibitions will define their big ideas in creating the audiovisual technology behind Mirador torre Glòries. Guests will then be treated to a visit to the Mediapro Exhibitions headquarters located nearby.

A double observatory is located in the dome on the 30th floor of Mirador torre Glòries; a 38-storey, 144m high, 39m wide skyscraper in the Poblenou neighbourhood of Barcelona. From start to finish, different spaces such as Hyperview Barcelona cleverly combine art, technology, big data and scientific information to reveal the city as a living, evolving organism. Spectacular 360° observation deck views of Barcelona are surrounded by multi-sensory walk-in art from contemporary artist Tomás Saraceno.

Hola Barcelona! More than just a flight: El Prat Airport

The final Tech Tour of ISE 2023 will take place at El Prat Airport on the morning of Friday 3 February from 09:00-12:30.

The specially curated technology-focused tour will be presented by out-of-home experts Exterior Plus, revealing the fully digital super-sized signage systems installed throughout the airport.
