Smart choices at ISE 2020

Smart building is a major focus of ISE 2020. The prestigious Smart Building Conference ISE is being extended by an extra half-day, and the Smart Building Technology Zone is hosting more than 60 companies with powerful solutions for commercial and residential installations.

Smart Building Conference begins on the morning of Monday 10 February at the Hotel Okura. With the theme ‘IoT, 5G and the Intelligent Edge’, it features keynotes from world-renowned speakers including:

  • Aryanour Djalali, founder and CEO of DNA Barcelona Architects, whose keynote ‘Smart Nature, Smarter Buildings’ will discuss how the natural world can provide inspiration for the design of smart buildings;
  • Paul Marsden, author and Business Manager at civil engineering contractor BAM Nuttall, who will discuss ‘Digital Quality Management in Construction’; and
  • Erik Ubels, CTO at OVG Real Estate, who will talk about Amsterdam’s Edge Olympic building, which sets new benchmarks in smart, connected, sustainable and healthy office developments.

An important element of digital transformation, smart technologies are becoming an integral part of the digital office, promoting workplace productivity, wellbeing, collaboration and remote conferencing, and transforming the workplace to meet the needs of new generations of workers. The morning of Tuesday 11 February sees the Smart Workplace Track take place, also at the Hotel Okura. This optional add-on to the main conference will explore the state of the art and future directions for the smart workplace. Some of Europe’s top experts will take part in presentations and panels that highlight the changing opportunities that smart workplaces represent.

In addition, smart office technology leaders including Google, Poly, Sharp and Lenovo will present Solutions Sessions highlighting some of the latest technologies for offices.

On the show floor, Hall 9 is the location of the Smart Building Technology Zone. Here you’ll find more than 60 suppliers of solutions covering HVAC, lighting and shutter control, security systems, monitoring, alarming, water control, energy management, metering and more besides. KNX Association, ISE 2020’s Presenting Show Partner, has its stand near the hall entrance; as well as presenting its own solutions it will host numerous co-exhibitors with offerings based on the KNX building automation standard.
