Two large format videowall displays, the MultiSync X555UNS and the MultiSync X555UNV, have been added to the NEC portfolio. Both 55in displays are said to be ideal for applications such as retail advertising and Digital-out-of-Home.
The two models come with an ultra-narrow bezel and only 3.5mm between the displays in a videowall configuration. They use S-IPS panels, which NEC claims deliver superior picture quality and excellent colour reproduction at off viewing angles in both landscape and portrait orientation. The new panel technology is, according to the company, particularly important to industry sectors such as retail, broadcast, and transportation installations.
The X555UNS and X555UNV video wall displays use local backlight dimming to dynamically adjust to the displayed content. Darker areas of the image are driven by a dimmer backlight and lighter content may locally leverage the backlights to their full capabilities. Ultimately, NEC says, the user benefits from higher contrast ratios and a more vivid overall image performance.
“Videowalls in retail environments have an immense impact on the retail experience - they can inspire and guide shoppers during the in-store visit and ultimately encourage sales,” said Tobias Augustin, product manager for large format displays at NEC Display Solutions Europe. “Ensuring a high quality user experience is key, but retailers also need to know they can easily manage a video wall that will create a good return on investment. NEC’s expanding and diversified portfolio reflects our understanding of these business needs.”
The displays are said to be easy to install and operate and to deliver reliable 24/7 performance. The in-built NFC sensor supports straightforward installation and drastically reduces maintenance time. Both displays feature NEC’s thermal management, including automated monitoring and fan control, to ensure stable and reliable operation.
