Iconic sports media brand Sports Illustrated’s new football vertical, Sports Illustrated FC, brings the globally recognised brand into the studio production space for the first time. Launched under Minute Media, the show connects a vibrant community of football enthusiasts worldwide.
Informed by years of digital-first football content, speed and creativity were the priority over production polish in those early years, often working across multiple locations with limited budgets. These experiences laid the groundwork for long-form, panel-style video content, driven by changing audience expectations and increasing competitive production standards.
Sports Illustrated FC required a solution capable of supporting multiple daily live studio formats, podcasts and interviews with minimal crew, with the implementation overseen by Executive Producer and Head of Video Production Jony Geron. The four camera design sees Blackmagic Studio Camera 6K Pros wired via a single ethernet cable to an ATEM Television Studio 4K8 switcher. Audio is brought in over XLR via an ATEM Microphone Converter, with HyperDeck Studio HD Plus used for camera ISO and program recording to SD cards.
“The setup has become a premium asset, elevating our capability and allowing us to bring in high-profile names in a way we hadn’t achieved before,” says Geron.
