8K glasses-free 3D

An 8K 65in glasses-free 3D LCD display has made its worldwide debut on the Dimenco stand, aimed at digital signage or other fields of visualisation such as medicine.

Combined with Dimenco Clear View technology, the screen offers high contrast and deep black levels, a crosstalk level of below 1.5% and a 140° 3D viewing angle. A unique optical structure has been overlaid on top of the panels.

A lack of available 8K or 3D content is no obstacle to the use of the screen, according to Maarten Tobias, CEO of Dimenco, who notes that 8K is not as futuristic as many may claim.

“In addition, as the optical filter causes a resolution loss, you’re actually seeing a 4K input, no glasses 3D picture, but to achieve that level of experience you need an 8K panel,” he added.

“In terms of 3D content, we are convinced we can leverage the VR hype, with lots of VR content driven by technology companies like Facebook and Google. We believe VR will face the same obstacles as 3D in terms of having to wear a mask on your face and we hope to benefit from that to take our technology forward.”

The screen launches in October and during ISE, Dimenco is offering the possibility to a limited number of companies to pre-subscribe for an 8K No-Glasses 3D display that will be shipped in June 2017.

Also on show is an 85 in 4K high brightness glasses free LCD display, pitched at the digital signage environment. Dimenco’s screens are compatible with BrightSign, AOpen and various Android players.
