SoundTube pendant loudspeakers and subwoofers have been installed at a new Rocco’s Tacos restaurant in Burlington, Massachusetts, based on a system previously deployed at the restaurant chain’s Huntington Station, New York location. The Burlington installation comprises 26 RS600i Series pendant loudspeakers supported by 10 RS1001i-II-T subwoofers, alongside 10 CM82-BGM-II loudspeakers and two CM1001d-T subwoofers for additional coverage, adapted from the larger RS800 iSeries pendant loudspeakers used in New York.
The restaurants require audio noticeably above conventional background levels during lunch and dinner, before demanding substantially greater output and low-frequency impact during happy hour and late evening. A Control4 platform manages multiple audio zones and sources throughout the Burlington restaurant, powered by Episode 70V, 1,200-watt amplifiers with DSP and a Triad audio matrix for source distribution and independent gain control.
For the Burlington location, SoundTube’s predictive modelling tools were used to establish loudspeaker quantities, locations and mounting heights ahead of installation, accounting for architectural features including a suspended bamboo drop ceiling and an open solarium with a solid wood ceiling. The pendant loudspeakers were incorporated into the bamboo ceiling while maintaining the appearance of a built-in system.
Sarah Chauvin, director of sales engineering and training at SoundTube, said: “Using SoundTube’s predictive modelling tools, we can show integrators exactly how a system is expected to perform before the first speaker is installed. For projects like Rocco’s Tacos, that means confident design decisions, even coverage throughout the space, and a smoother commissioning process that delivers the performance we designed from the very beginning.”
Fred Kaplan, president of integrator Sound Insight, added: “The client is very particular about the sound, and he loved the way the New York restaurant sounded. When it came time to do Massachusetts, we didn’t want to change something we knew he liked. We wanted to use the same equipment and even the same amplification.”
