Smart-e launches ‘complete’ HDMI home entertainment solution

The SMX-16x16 is said to provide a complete solution for all format requirements in one unit, without compromising HDMI transmission. Part of Smart-e's smartmix AV range, the SMX-16x16 allows digital content from both HDMI and DVI devices to be distributed over long cable lengths, together with traditional analogue devices (PCs, VCRs, DVDs and cameras), high-res devices (Blu-ray, games consoles, HD set top boxes) and video servers.

Developed by UK-based Smart-e, the SMX-16×16 includes a high-powered distribution matrix featuring 16 inputs and outputs, and combines the switching and distribution of analogue (YprPb) and HDMI signals. In addition, the SMX-16×16 combines local and remote connections, and can be IP controlled using Smart-e’s SmartiP software.

According to Smart-e, the new launch “provides a flexible, scalable and inexpensive AV solution for home entertainment systems”.

Jon Lane, Smart-e’s managing director, told IE Residential: “Demand from custom installers for an affordable HDMI solution led us to create this new matrix specifically for the home and marine entertainment markets, so we anticipate that it will be a popular choice taking market share from traditional analogue solutions.”
