Sharp bolsters professional display line with triple launch

Sharp Visual Solutions Europe has met 2013 head on with the announcement of three new product lines for its display solutions. All the new solutions, including the first porfessional displays to be based on Indium Gallium Zinc Oxide panels, will be demonstrated at ISE 2013.

Sharp Visual Solutions Europe has unveiled its first professional displays to be based on an innovative Indium Gallium Zinc Oxide (IGZO) panel. The company has also announced the launch of it’s new 20in touch-screen monitor (LL-S201A) that runs on the Windows 8 operating system, as well as a new range of high-end professional LCD displays which includes the industry’s-first 90in LCD screen, the PN-R903.

The IGZO displays, which begin shipping in Q2 2013, achieve Quad Full-HD 3840×2160 resolution while reducing power consumption by up to 33%. Sharp is releasing two 32in class monitors – the touch screen PN-K332 and a non-touch monitor, the PN-K321. IGZO is a semiconducting material that has 20-50 times higher electron mobility than amphorous silicon. The thin-film transistor layer is much thinner while increasing pixel transparency. With more light able to pass through each pixel, IGZO achieves very high resolution with a less powerful backlight to achieve its power efficiencies. Both versions offer up to 140 pixels per inch.

The LL-S201A, which will be available from March, provides a resolution of 1920×1080, a contrast ratio of 3000:1 and processes up to 16.8 million colours to display full HD images. Moreover, its highly responsive 10-point capacitive touch interface enables people to use all fingers when operating Windows’ gesture-based controls and applications for a more immersive user experience.

In addition to the PN-R903 90in display, the new LCD line-up (also availble from March) includes the PN-R603 60- and PN-R703 70in displays. Despite their size, the screens are lightweight, slimmer and more efficient than existing LCD displays and offer full-HD 1920×1080 performance. Other highlights include 700 candela light output, the ability to process over a billion colours, and local dimming to help reduce power consumption.
