L-Acoustics system supports Portuguese casino

L2 and L2D loudspeakers provide coverage for live entertainment, conferences and banquets at Casino de Espinho’s 550-capacity Salão Atlântico

L-Acoustics has supplied a new sound system for the Salão Atlântico at Casino de Espinho, Portugal, using its L2 and L2D loudspeakers to support the venue’s varied programme of live performances, conferences and banquets. The 550-capacity hall regularly changes configuration between events, requiring consistent coverage and speech intelligibility across different seating layouts.

L-Acoustics Certified Provider SLS was appointed to design and install the system, presenting its proposal in January 2026 before completing installation and commissioning in February. The brief was to replace the existing PA and improve clarity, coverage and low-frequency impact across the room’s different configurations.

The main system comprises one L-Acoustics L2D array flown on each side of the stage. Four KS28 subwoofers are ground-stacked centrally along the stage front, while five 5XT loudspeakers provide front-fill coverage for tables close to the stage. LA7.16i, LA12X and LA2Xi amplified controllers drive the system, with a P1 processor managing the signal chain over a Milan-AVB network.

SLS used L-Acoustics’ Soundvision software to model the system, testing loudspeaker positions, splay angles and rigging heights. The design process assessed sound pressure level uniformity and speech intelligibility across the audience areas, taking account of the room’s geometry and acoustic characteristics.

Pedro Santos, sales manager for the northern region at SLS, said: “The Salão Atlântico earns its keep through its versatility. It has to be ready for anything, and the sound has to perform in any one of a variety of layouts.”

He added that improving the venue’s technical standard would support existing clients and help attract more ambitious productions.

The system is intended to provide a consistent sound experience as the hall switches between events, with the venue’s technical team involved throughout implementation. According to SLS, engineers and performers have highlighted clarity, coverage and low-frequency impact, while management has noted the system’s versatility and reliability across the venue’s varied programme.
