L-Acoustics has supplied a complete audio system upgrade for Bootshaus, a Cologne nightclub ranked among the world’s top electronic music venues, as the club marks its 22nd anniversary with what it describes as its most significant audio investment to date. The Mainfloor has been fitted with a new 8.1.7 A Series loudspeaker configuration in 360°, paired with L-Acoustics DJ, a spatial audio platform that runs on the L-ISA Processor II using Source Separate, a proprietary low-latency technology that uses machine learning to isolate the discrete stems of a stereo track – beats, basslines, melodies, vocals – in real time as a DJ performs, allowing those elements to be positioned and moved around the room.
The Mainfloor system comprises two hangs of two A15 Wide over one A15 Focus flanking the DJ booth, with six further hangs of one A15 Wide over one A15 Focus extending coverage around the sides and rear of the dance floor. Seven X12 coaxial enclosures provide overhead height coverage, two A15 Focus units serve as DJ monitors, and the system is driven by three LA7.16i amplified controllers.
