A KV2 Audio sound system has been installed in the Great Hall at the University of Bradford, the largest venue on campus, replacing a previous system that had struggled to deliver clear speech across the 900-seat space. The hall hosts around ten graduation ceremonies twice a year, alongside lectures, exams and external hires, all of which required intelligible spoken audio and even coverage from stage to balcony.
The system was installed by Roche AV Pro, the university’s AV partner and contractor, and comprises 20 loudspeakers. At its core are two ESR106 active three-way column arrays flown as the main left and right systems, supported by four ES1.8 subwoofers concealed below the stage. Two ESD12 full-range loudspeakers provide additional coverage to the floor and balcony, while four ESD25 passive systems act as delays for the tiered seating at the back, and two ESD36 passive loudspeakers complement the mains to the left and right of the balcony.
Nick Cragg, audio visual architect at the university, said: “We have two ESR106 arrays flown as the main left and right systems for the stage. They really carry the whole system, providing controlled coverage throughout the auditorium.”
He added that four ultra-compact CS6 passive loudspeakers were installed as infills along the front of the stage, with two further ESD36 units used for on-stage fold-back.
Stafford Lund, sales manager at Roche AV Pro, added: “We were blown away by the sound quality of the previous KV2 installs in the Horton Barn Lecture Theatre and Norcroft Building. Their products deliver the clarity and impact that the university requires, making the decision to use KV2 again for the Great Hall project a no-brainer.”
