A K-array distributed, multi-zone sound system has been installed throughout Israeli fast fashion retail company EDIKTED’s flagship store in New York, to support everyday retail alongside product launches, special events and DJ performances while remaining visually integrated with the architecture. The store occupies the Charles Scribner’s Sons Building, a Beaux-Arts landmark designed by Ernest Flagg and completed in 1913, featuring a 30ft vaulted ceiling, balconies, ornamental plasterwork, cast-iron details and highly reflective surfaces.
Ten K-array Vyper-KV102W II slim line-array loudspeakers provide the primary sound across the main sales areas, with twelve KGEAR GH4W compact loudspeakers handling targeted secondary areas. Six Rumble-KU210W subwoofers are distributed throughout the store to provide low-end coverage while avoiding excessive bass concentration in any single area.
The Vyper-KV102W II’s ultra-slim profile and controlled vertical dispersion direct sound toward customer areas while reducing energy directed at the vaulted ceiling and reflective surfaces, with the loudspeakers finished in white to integrate with the interior.
The system is powered and processed by a single K-array Kommander-KA208 eight-channel amplifier with integrated DSP, managing the different loudspeakers and zones from one centralised platform with dedicated K-array presets, crossover settings, equalisation, protection limiting and zone-level balancing.
During commissioning, Rootech optimised the gain structure, verified wiring and polarity, balanced the zones, aligned the loudspeakers and subwoofers, and tuned the system through listening tests throughout the store.
Rami Romano, architect and interior designer at Romano Rami, said: “Integrating a powerful sound system into such a historic and architecturally significant space required a solution that would respect the design. ROOTECH and K-array achieved strong, consistent sound coverage while keeping the equipment visually discreet and in harmony with the landmark interior.”
